Power Station Runtime Calculator

Quick answer

Runtime in hours ≈ capacity in Wh × 0.85 ÷ total load in watts. A 1,024 Wh station runs a 60 W fridge for about 14½ hours.

How is runtime calculated?

We take the station’s rated capacity, keep 85% of it for inverter losses and divide by the combined average draw of what you plug in. Real runtime also depends on temperature, battery age and how often appliances cycle.

FAQ

Why is runtime lower than capacity divided by watts?

Converting battery power to AC loses energy. We assume 85% inverter efficiency, which is typical for portable power stations.

How do I find an appliance’s average draw?

Use the label or a plug-in watt meter. Fridges and freezers cycle on and off, so their average is far below the label’s peak.

Does the station’s output limit matter?

Yes. The total load must stay under the continuous output rating, and motors need surge headroom when they start.
